Why Dogs are Better...

A few weeks ago, I started teasing my friends and roommates. I would say, “I don’t need a husband, I am going to get a dog when I get out of school.” The more I think about this, the better the thought is. So, here is my list on why dogs are better than men:

1) It is ok if a dog is furry, but it is not ok if a man is furry!

2) It is not inhumane to kick a dog out any time he gets smelly.

3) You don’t have to cook for dogs. In fact, it is easier to serve a dog dog food than to serve a man cereal.

4) Dogs forgive easily; they don’t hold grudges.

5) Dogs are always excited to see you when you get home from work or school.

There you go, five good reasons to get a dog instead of a husband. Plus, you don’t have to put yourself out there or risk getting hurt when you get a dog. You simply pick one out that you can’t resist and love it with all your heart. If you love it, it will love you unconditionally in return. No more heartbreaks for me….I’m getting a dog.

What Makes Apt 104 So Great?

This semester has been amazing. Part of the reason is because I have amazing roommates. I haven't always loved my roommates. In fact, more than one of my previous roommates have annoyed me. So, what made this semester different. I think the answer is because we all served each other, and through service we learned to love each other and be genuinely concerned about the others' needs. It is sad that it took me so long to realize the importance of the principle of service in a home setting. I hope to be able to continue this trend. If I do, Apt 104 will always be the best!

The Father of My Children

It's finals week...one of the most stressful weeks of the semester. In on of my classes, we discuss various cases each week. This week we are discussing our final case and it happens to be on in vitro fertilization. I was reading an in vitro contract while studying at the library. I needed a good laugh, so I looked over at my roommate, Megan, and said, "What if I really got a guy to sign this?" We don't know why, maybe it was because the library can make one delusional, we thought it was hilarious. So, I printed the contract off and decided to have one of my guy friends sign it. We left the library with a mission. I folded the paper so only the signature line for the husband would be showing. I asked my friend to sign it. After a little convincing and promising I would give him the paper after he signed it, he put his John Hancock on it. I signed it and had a witness sign it and woo-lah, I had a baby-dady. As promised, I let him keep the contract. I still think its hilarious that I talked a guy into signing a contract for in vitro. I told him I picked him because I wanted my children to be as healthy, tall, handsome, and smart and he was the only guy I could think of that exhibited those characteristics. Some might not think my story is funny...but I find it hilarious.

The End of a Semester

I don't think a day has gone by this semester where the idea of dropping out of school hasn't been discussed in apartment 104. We often find ourselves in stressful situations and then question why we are even in school With that being said, we only have TWO WEEKS of the semester left. This is Erin's final semester. We are super glad that she is staying with us over the summer. Guess we have a special boy to thank for that one:). The time has really passed quickly. It feels like it was only a few days ago we were all getting off to the awkward start of getting to know each other. As for me, I can say that my roommates have become some of my best friends. I have learned so many things this semester, both in the academic setting and also in my personal life. So here are a few:
1) Life passes quickly. Before you even realize it, months of your life have vanished. Cherish the time you have, no matter how hard life seems. Don't wish it away; you will never get the moments you do back.
2) Things don't always go your way. I am continually learning this lesson. As soon as I forget it, it doesn't take long to learn it again. I think the hardest thing for me is when I have to work and don't get to play or I like a boy and he doesn't like me back. Take what you get, and be grateful! I guess I can't have it all right now...but maybe I will someday.
3) Take risks! Nothing great was ever achieved without risks being involved. You may not always get desired results, but you will get results. One day, you will find a risk that is so worth taking, all the other risks will seem like they were worth it.

I am excited about this blog! I hope all the readers will enjoy our random ramblings and find ways to enjoy life no matter what comes their way. After all, this is the only life we have; we better live it up to the fullest!
